Dumplings

Shrimp dumplings, sauteed buna shimeji mushrooms and chayote, pickled radish with pickled carrot decoration, edamame.

Noodles

Udon noodles with tofu, buna shimeji mushrooms, carrots, zucchini, 2 umbrella cherry tomatoes. For dessert, apples and blackberries.

Miso Soup

Noodles, bunny hard boiled egg, tofu, chopped up bok choy, white miso paste with a bit of hosin :)

Day 3

On the lunch agenda: fried rice with leftover rotisserie chicken, with peas and zucchini, pickled cauliflower, cutout pickled radishes, yellow bear sriracha container and a panda bear hard boiled egg, apples and cherry tomatoes.

Basically I just wanted a forum to post what I have for lunch every day. I've been obssessing over Bento lunches for the past few weeks and have finally got around to get it together. Also wanted to list a few places, online and in NYC that I've visited to get my Bento on. Enjoy! Hopefully you're as inspired as I am!

Just Bento - solid site with tons of info

JBOX - to buy all things Bento, also has the greatest variety in accessories, only downfall is it delievers from Japan so you'll have to wait longer than a week to get your shizzle

All Things for Sale - is recently my new favorite place, I have in my cart a Hello Kitty Ham and Cheese cutter, totally stoked!

In the NYC area:

I had a hard time finding anything in NYC, hit up all the Japanese markets, Kinokuniya (main bookstore), Pearl River, all these places were a bit disappointing. They only had one or two kinds, single tier, more for pre-schoolers, maybe the season was off, it is a bit after school has started :( The following places are some suggestions:

Kam Man - had my panda Bento

Mitsuwa Markeplace - if you have the time and travel options, this place is supposedly, the BOMB, in New Jersey though :(

Katagiri - this is an old Japanese grocery store, suggested by a Japanese lady in a book store
